Deciding to rebel against living a "normal" life and instead lead a life of adventure and experiences, Sharla kicked her traditional lifestyle to the curb leaving the house and business behind. With 2 small builds under her belt, Sharla will share tips she has learned during both her diy builds, and what life on the road is really like and how to earn money while traveling. Kerris and her husband Chris have 3 acres in the suburbs, with two holidays homes, their own lodge and B&B, and a menagerie of animals. Rotorua has a severe housing crisis, and in 2018 one of Kerris’ employees was unable to find a suitable rental home for his family of six. Initially, the Tiny Home idea was only a brief thought, as a short term solution to helping their employee out, Ash Pari. However after looking into costs and returns, they quickly worked out that the Return on Invest for a rental Tiny House, is nearly double that of a standard rental home. It was a no-brainer and they haven’t looked back – Kerris designed Rotorua’s first 6-person Tiny House which was built by Tiny House Builders in Katikati, and Ash has been happily living in it ever since. Kerris will share with us a complete spreadsheet of costs and returns, and the processes she initially went through with the Council, and Ash will talk about living in a Tiny House with his sons, and the savings he makes while ‘living tiny’.
